How was the voice of snow white created?

The voice was chosen very unusually. One day the casting director was on the phone with a voice coach asking him to help find a snow white. The voice coaches daughter, Adriana Caselotti, was singing in a child- like voice in the background and the director heard. She was immediately cast as the voice of snow white.

History of Snow White

Snow White was movie creator, Walt Disney's first succesful attempt at producing a technicolor film. It premiered on December 21, 1937 and was the most succesful film of 1938. Walt Disney based his version of the story on the Grimms version. In this, the queen demands that Snow White's heart be brought to her as proof of her death, but of course this was removed to help make the movie more child friendly.
There are many tales similar to the snow white we all know. Some are quite gruesome and others extemely different from the version we have grown up to. These can be found at http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/sevendwarfs/other.html
